COOKING CLASS

Palestine is known for its food which is fresh, colourful and full of flavor. During this class you will learn for yourself how to make some famous Palestinian dishes such as maqloubah, mjaddara, stuffed courgettes or stuffed vine leaves.

Palestinians are passionate about their food and coming together as a family and wider community to share food is an important part of the culture. Palestine has a wealth of delicious fresh produce and the food has adapted to include influences from across the Middle East and beyond.

This class is led by local women living in the Aida refugee camp and takes place in their family homes. Here you will learn the real secrets to cooking authentic Palestinian food and will be able to impress your friends and family with your new skills!

You will be able to choose what to cook and will be given step by step instruction by your teacher as well as recipe cards to take away. There will also be a discussion about which foods are local to Palestine and which foods are hard to access due to the occupation. Once the food is ready, you will be able to enjoy what you made!

  • Visit the Aida refugee camp and meet with women who live there;
  • Learn some of the secrets of Palestinian cooking from local women including which ingredients grow locally and how other food is sourced;
  • Enjoy step-by-step hands on instruction as you prepare your Palestinian recipe;
  • Enjoy a meal with the food you have prepared!
