Tejwaal means to wander in Arabic, our native language. And Palestinians are wanderers. We drift from one border to another, always on the move – never quite reaching a destination. Our journey is intertwined with boundaries, wavering between nostalgia and resistance, faith and resignation, connection and detachment, belonging and rootlessness.
There is, however, a constant link that ties us to our homeland, to the ancient streets of Jerusalem, the smell of orange blossoms in Jaffa, fresh bread in Bethlehem, the sand dunes of Jericho, and the rocky cliffs of Acca. For some of us, these are distant memories. For others, they are dreams to be reached for.
We founded Tejwaal to share this connection with wanderers, global citizens, and conscious travellers around the world. Mindful tourists who care about making a positive impact and nurturing the local communities they visit. We want to provide an immersive travel experience that takes you to the heart of the destination, allowing you to connect deeply with the local culture, environment, and people.
Our mission is to create meaningful and educational activities that support and preserve the places we explore while enhancing the lives of those who live here and our visitors. It is imperative for us that our trips are more than just sightseeing; they should also raise awareness and leave lasting memories for our guests.
We are a group of third-generation Palestinian refugees who listen to Fairuz in the morning, Umm Kulthum in the evening, make hummus without a blender, and hate all sorts of oppression. Our ultimate goal is to present Palestine holistically and authentically and disseminate indigenous knowledge about its complex dimensions.
Through interactive experiences such as walking, training, and networking, we strive to bring forth our narrative, showcase the beauty of our culture, and give voice to all of our stories to ensure that Palestine is seen and heard in its entirety. In the process, we aim to promote social change, sustainable community development, and financial empowerment of marginalised groups, and welcome you to join us on this journey. ❤
